The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Act amends the Town and Country Planning Act, 1948 by repealing and replacing section 6. Section 6 concerns the declaration of a planning area by the Minister. If the Minister is of the opinion that a scheme should be made for the whole of Sierra Leone or, after consultation with the appropriate local authorities, that a scheme should be made for a specific area, the Minister may, by Order, declare that the whole of Sierra Leone or the area, as specified by a survey plan, shall be a planning area. Special rules apply to Freetown.

This Act amends the Local Courts Act, 1963 by repealing and replacing section 34, which allows the President to appoint a Judicial Adviser. The functions of a Judicial Adviser shall include the advising of the Local Courts in matters of law and organisation, the training of personnel and the exercise of the powers of review prescribed in the following sections and such other functions as may from time to time be conferred upon him by order of the Minister and all or any of the functions of a Judicial Adviser may, subject to his directions, be performed by an Assistant Judicial Adviser.

This Act amends the Local Courts Act, 1963 in section 1 by repealing and replacing the definition of " Minister" (Minister responsible for matters relating to the Interior) and in section 4 on the power of the Minister to appoint a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman or Vice-Chairmen and such other members of a Local Court or group Local Appeal Court as (s)he shall seem fit.

This Act amends the Local Courts Act, 1963 in subsection (9) of section 29, which is repealed and replaced by the following new subsection: "(9) On any such appeal the District Appeal Court shall rehear the whole case and hear any additional witnesses called by the parties even though they did not give evidence in the Court below.".

This Act makes provision with respect tenure of land in the Western Area of Sierra Leone by non-citizen, i.e. any individual who is not a citizen of Sierra Leone, and any company, association or body of persons, corporate or incorporation if which more than one half of the members directly or indirectly are not citizens of Sierra Leone.
