The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Regulation, consisting of 351 sections divided into 15 Chapters and completed by eight Schedules, regulates the following issues: a) describes the boundaries of local government areas; b) describes the boundaries of any divisions; c) fixes the number of councillors for local governments and any divisions of local government areas; d) names local government areas; and (e) classifies local government areas as a city, town, shire or region. In addition, it establishes the classification of each local government area as mentioned in schedule 1, column 2.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), through Resolution 64/236 of 24 December 2009, decided to organize the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio de Janeiro, 3 to 6 June 2012 (UNCSD, also referred to as Rio+20). The two main stated themes decided by the UNGA for UNCSD are: a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication; and the institutional framework for sustainable development. The preparatory process foresees three sessions of the preparatory Committee and three inter-sessional meetings.

Las presentes disposiciones reglamentan la Ley Agraria, con especial atención a los procedimientos y lineamientos aplicables para el ordenamiento de la propiedad rural, así como para la expropiación de terrenos ejidales y comunales. El Reglamento fija el procedimiento para la investigación y enajenación de los excedentes de la propiedad rural.
