Pastoralists in Tanzania are suffering from many human rights violations, including forced evictions from their lands. This report gives a comprehensive analysis of the human rights situation of indigenous peoples in Tanzania, and documents cases of human rights violations against Maasai pastoralists during 2011. 

The information contained in this report is a result of a comprehensive survey and human rights analysis, which used both primary and secondary data collection methodologies covering a total of 10 districts and 18 villages. 

In early 2015, Maasai and Datoga citizens living in the Morogoro region of Tanzania were victims of deadly, ethnic violence. According to reports from local media, the assaults were instigated by public figures interested in acquiring land, and state authorities have not intervened to protect Maasai citizens. Police protection has instead been given to others who are illegally cultivating officially registered Maasai land. 

The present Regulations is made under the Environment Protection and Enhancement Act. Section 2 of the above-mentioned Regulation establishes the Oil Sands Environmental Monitoring Programme consisting of the Joint Canada/Alberta Oil Sands Monitoring Implementation Programme, established by Ministerial Order 25/2013 made by the Minister pursuant to section 8 of the Government Organization Act. This Programme strengthens environmental monitoring programmes for air, water, land and biodiversity in the oil sands region.

This Act consists of 40 sections and is divided into seven Parts: Preliminary; Public surveys; Registration of surveyors; Entry to land for survey purposes; Offences; The Board of Surveying and Spatial Information and Miscellaneous. The Act repeals the Surveyors Act 1929 and related instruments and makes consequential amendments to other Acts. This Act provides for the protection and preservation of Aboriginal heritage in the territory of South Australia. For the purpose of administration of the Act, it establishes the Aboriginal Heritage Committee, the South Australian Aboriginal Heritage Fund and regulates functions and powers of inspectors (Part 2). This Act amends Aboriginal Land Rights 1983. Amending Acts and amending provisions are subject to automatic repeal pursuant to sec 30C of the Interpretation Act 1987 No. 15 once the amendments have taken effect.

The Decree provides the allotment of state-owned land destined to planting of perennial trees, seasonal crops and forestation, plus the water surface required for aquaculture farming to individuals, households and organizations which shall invest in the resulting production. Planning and financial evaluation of production costs shall be prepared and funds destined to support all agricultural, forestry and aquaculture activities and operations.

These Regulations the licensing of exploration operations in accordance with the National Museums and Heritage Act, 2006 and provides rules for such exploration. The Regulations provide, among other things, that licensee shall not enter into any land, execute any works or destroy or interfere with any crops, cultivations or dwellings on any land without the consent of persons or authorities having any interest or right in or over that land.
