Brisbane Forest Park Act 1977.

The Act establishes the Brisbane Forest Park and provides for its management. It is divided in 7 Parts (91 sections). Part 2 specifies which land can become part of the park and the effects on proprietors’ rights of land’s inclusion in the park (sect. 11). Part 3 constitutes the Brisbane Forest Park Advisory Planning Board and specifies its composition, operation, functions and powers. Part 4 establishes the Brisbane Forest Park Administration Authority, a corporation sole constituted by the Minister, responsible for the management of the park.

Order No. 230 of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources regarding validation of the Regulation on the modalities of conservation of degraded agricultural land and land contaminated by toxic industrial waste and by radioactive materials.

The aim pursued by this Act is the protection of nature as a whole, in such a way that land, sea, freshwater and air are not wasted or polluted. These Regulations have been adopted in implementation of the Nature Conservation Act of 1971. Articles 1 to 7 deal with the setting up of nature conservation committees on each county and town, as well as in the city of Reykjavik. The task of these committees is to further the nature conservation in their district. They shall submit annual reports on their activities (art. 5). Articles 8 to 14 concern the right of access to public lands and the right of free passage, under certain circumstances, through private lands.

The Governor may constitute Forest Reserves under section 4.A Notice in this respect shall be published in the Official Gazette. For each Reserve a Reserve Settlement Commissioner shall be appointed. Restrictions are placed on acquisition of rights during an interim period between publication and an Order constituting a Reserve under section 17. The Settlement Commission shall be considered a Court. The Commissioner may exclude land from a Reserve. Section 13 concerns compensation and section 14 concerns extinction of rights.

Vegetation (Application for Clearing) Act 2003.

This Act is about applications for the clearing of trees and other vegetation provided for in the Integrated Planning Act 1997 and in the Land Act 1994. It consists of seven sections and is divided into four Parts. Part 3 is dedicated to applications for development approval and sets restrictions on changing applications or development approvals. Part 4 covers applications for tree clearing and sets restrictions on changes proposed to applications or permits. The Act is completed by a schedule containing the dictionary of relevant terms used in the Act.

Soil Conservation Regulation 1998.

It provides for the continuation in force of existing approved project plans (sect. 2) and requires approved plans to be available for inspection (sect. 3). The standards are prescribed in the First Schedule. The Second Schedule contains the guidelines for the management of fragile or particular soils.
