The Eighth India Land and Development Conference, ILDC 2024 will be organised from 5-7 November 2024 at FLAME University, Pune, India.
The theme of the 8th edition of ILDC is "Land Tenure Transitions: Climatisation or Communitisation." This theme highlights the surge in global climate actions impacting land and nature, particularly in the majority world. It examines how this expanding ecosystem—driven by finance, science, and a multitude of new actors—interacts with and influences local lands, communities, their well-being and tenure
This year, the unfolding dimensions and nuances of land-people relations through the lens of community stewardship and climate resilience will be the focus of the conference. The evolving dynamics of land use changes and administration innovations, and how they affect local communities’s role in managing, preserving and caring for land, will form the basis of most conversations.
ILDC2024 aims to promote both conversation and collaboration among inter-sectoral actors and institutions working on and around diverse and interdisciplinary issues around land and housing. Proposed sub-themes of ILDC 2024 are:
1) Land Administration Innovations
2) Climate action & Tenure Transitions
3) Land Use - Land Tenure Linkages
4) Land, Housing and Market Interfaces
5) Partnerships for Inclusion & Impact
6) Tech and Land
Across themes, ILDC desires to embed a cross-cutting focus on Gender, IPLC, Inclusion, Information & Data.
The 7th ILDC held in November 2023, attracted over 350 participants who engaged over three days of discussions, including pre and post-conference events spanning about 40 parallel and plenary sessions. ILDC over its last episodes, has provided space for Master Classes, Lightening Talks, Practitioners’ Window and Intellectual & Artistic Expressions during the main event. We also extend the platform for doctoral colloquium, media workshops, writeshops etc. as pre and post-conference events.
As preparations commence for ILDC2024, we are seeking innovative inquiries, disruptive ideas, practical experiences, and critical analyses. Similar to previous years, ILDC2024 will feature presentations, panel discussions, and roundtable sessions. Beyond intellectual discourse, the conference will include networking opportunities, cultural expressions, and artistic engagements celebrating connections to the land.
In response to interest and enquiries, the 8th ILDC will have space for international participation, esp from South Asia, South East Asia and Africa from land institutions, projects, researchers and practitioners.
We invite you to consider participating in this year's event to share your work, stay updated on the latest developments, concepts, and technologies, enhance your skills, and connect with fellow stakeholders.
Please note the timelines given on the website on the Conference page and ensure to adhere to them while submitting a proposal for a panel or abstract.
We encourage panel submitters, to adopt an inter-sectoral, inter-disciplinary and diversity approach, and preferably bringing deliberations across geographies.
