This Act makes provision with respect to soil conservation in the Scotland District and for this purpose establishes the Scotland District Soil Conservation Board.The Board shall advise the Minister on the utilization of lands in the conservation area, i.e. the area as set out in the First Schedule to this Act. It shall also examine proposals concerning the conservation and improvement of land in the conservation area submitted to it under this Act by the Chief Agricultural Officer.

The present Act lays down provisions relating to public lands. The Minister shall have charge of the management, sale and disposition of the public lands and forests. For the purpose of the present Act “mines and minerals” includes gold, silver, copper, lead, iron and other mines and minerals, and quarries, and beds of stone, marble or gypsum. The text consists of 75 sections divided into 4 Parts as follows: Ministry of Natural Resource (I); Road on public lands (II); Provisions of general application (III); Construction of dams (IV).

This Act provides rules relative to prospecting, quarrying and mining of minerals. The Act also regulates the exportation of radioactive minerals and safeguards rights of Amerindians in respect of land and restricts rights of Amerindians to take minerals.The Minister may constitute part of Guyana as a mining district. All minerals shall vest in the State. The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission may grant licences or permits to enter on private lands and to search and take minerals on such land. The Act provides rules for large scale and medium and small scale mining and prospecting.

Upper Austria Soil Protection Law 1991.

The purpose of the present Law is to conserve and protect the soil against harmful effects, in particular against erosion, densification of the soil and hazardous substances, and to improve and restore the health of the soil. To reach this aim everyone shall behave in such a way as to reduce damage to the soil to the unavoidable minimum – in particular accumulation of hazardous substances in the soil and deterioration of the soil structure – in view of ensuring an effective soil protection.

Upper Austria Farmland Requirement Law 1979.

The present Law lays down provisions relating to conditions of farmland in Upper Austria. Article 1 deals with land consolidations. With a view to create and maintain an efficient and environment-friendly agriculture, property rights, rights of use and cultivation in rural life may be improved or newly arranged by means of : 1) new divisions and development of agricultural and forest land; 2) merging agricultural and forestry industries taking into account modern agricultural and ecological factors.
