As it was widely reported in the newspapers of August 12, 2021, the government in partnership with NMB Bank, has launched a five-year Plot Loan scheme to enable land owners in informal settlements to survey and get title to their land. This was in part a result of the realisation that land owners were finding it difficult to foot the cost of surveying, registering and obtaining title deeds.

FISHERMEN in Lake Tanganyika lose between 50 and 70 percent of fish catch due to post-harvest fish losses, fisheries experts have said.

Director General of Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) Dr. Ismael Kimirei said many
fishermen get huge loss because they don’t have proper handling, processing and storage facilities right from the net to the market.

A TOTAL of 250 women from 14 wards of Kilwa District in Lindi Region will soon receive customary title deeds, something that will enable them to access loans, thus engage fully in economic activities including agriculture.

This has been possible through the Kilwa Local Rights Programme that is being executed by ActionAid Kilwa.
