La coopération avec la République démocratique du Congo remonte à 1978, année de l’ouverture du bureau de la FAO dans le pays. The Elements to Facilitate Domestic Implementation of Access and Benefit-Sharing for Different Subsectors of Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture aim to assist governments considering developing, adapting or implementing access and benefit-sharing measures to take into account the importance of genetic resources for food and agriculture, their special role in food security and the distinctive features of their different subsectors, while complying, as applicable, with international instruments.

Lithuania became an official member of FAO in 1991, and FAO has since contributed more than €4.3 million to finance over 20 projects in the country. These initiatives centred on developing capacities in multiple sectors, including agriculture, forestry, fisheries, livestock and the environment. In recent years, Lithuania has contributed to FAO’s activities in sustainable forest management by supporting the negotiations of the legally binding agreement on forests (LBA) in Europe.

The Expert Consultation on Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management (ECCI-2004) was organized by the Forest Management Bureau of the Philippines, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Tropical Timber Organization and convened in Cebu City, Philippines, from 2 to 4 March 2004. The Forest Management Bureau of the Philippines hosted the meeting.

The partnership between FAO and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has grown steadily since the country became a member of the Organization in 1993. Cooperation has spanned a wide array of country and regional initiatives in areas such as the wine sector, land tenure and management, obsolete pesticide management and climate change adaptation in rural areas. Across the spectrum, there has been a continual emphasis on national capacity building, with a more recent focus on aligning Macedonia’s agriculture and rural sectors with European Union standards.

Cooperation between Finland and FAO has been ongoing since the Organization was established in 1945. Finland has contributed as well as financially, through active participation in FAO’s work and has been a key donor for projects around the world. As a traditional partner in FAO’s Assistant Professional Officer (APO) Programme, Finland has frequently financed APOs since 1965.
