El objetivo de este documento es presentar un diagnóstico sobre la situación de la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional (SAN) de América Latina y el Caribe.
Se presentan los avances recientes en materia de SAN, destacando su heterogeneidad entre los países de la región y la doble carga de la malnutrición; el proceso de fortalecimiento de los marcos jurídicos e institucionales, así como la evolución de las políticas de seguridad alimentaria en la región, y se desarrollan algunas conclusiones y se detallan los desafíos y las recomendaciones de políticas de FAO para continuar el proceso de mejora continua de la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional de la región.

The Hunger Free Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative is a commitment from the countries of the region to eradicate hunger within the term of a generation.
The monitoring and follow-up of this Initiative is done through the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean in the United Nations (GRULAC), the Working Group 2025 (GT2025) and the Committee on World Food Security(CFS).
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information.
