The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

The present Law implements the Federal Soil Protection Act of 17 March 1998 (BGBl. I p. 502). The purpose of the Law is to ensure and reinstate effectively the conditions and functions of the soil. The text consists of 17 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Information on soil and contaminated sites, territorially-based soil protection (2); Responsibility, compensation, costs (3); Final provisions (4).

Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (Scotland) Act 2013 (2013 asp 11).

This Act establishes the Land and Buildings Transaction Tax in Scotland as a consequence of the Scotland Act 2012, which assigns responsibility to the Scottish Parliament for taxes on land transactions and disposals to landfill. It defines which transactions are land transactions, and which interests are, and which are not, chargeable interests in land. It also provides for land transaction returns and for the payment of the tax and for tax relief.

Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) (No. 2) (England) Order 2013 (S.I. No. 1868 of 2013).

This Order amends, in relation to England only, the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 with respect to , Class A of Part 24 of Schedule 2. Class A often imposes limitations and conditions on the grant of planning permission. For example, some of the permissions do not apply on categories of land identified in article 1(5) of, and Part 2 of Schedule 1 to, the 1995 Order (National Parks, areas of outstanding natural beauty, conservation areas, countryside areas of natural beauty and amenity, the Broads, World Heritage Sites).

Access to the Countryside (Maps) (England) Regulations 2013 (S.I. No. 1798 of 2013).

These Regulations require Natural England (as successor body to the Countryside Agency) to retain conclusive maps of registered common land and open country by the issue of draft maps, which are subsequently confirmed by the Countryside Agency and make provision for the inspection of such maps. Regulation 4 provides for the inspection and supply of reduced scale maps, which are copies of conclusive maps on a smaller scale.

Ordinance implementing the Federal Land Lease Contracts Act.

The present Ordinance implements the Federal Land Lease Contracts Act of 8 November 1985. In particular, the Ordinance establishes that the competent authority in Hamburg responsible for the efficient enforcement of the afore-mentioned Act is the Economics, Transport and Innovation Office.
