The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

This Regulation makes provision for expert examination with regards to the feasibility and viability of proposed land reclamation projects. Such examination is made for all land reclamation and hydrotechnic works irrespective the source of financing (art. 2). Expert examination shall be carried out by an institution authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture (art. 3). The outcome of the examination may cause modification of a land reclamation project (art. 6). (8 articles)

Procedure for the attachment for use of state-owned land reclamation facilities (Government Decision No. 224).
These Regulations implement the Law on Land Reclamation. They make provision for the use of state-owned land reclamation facilities by private owners of land whose land is marked with border signs and by legal and natural persons who have an agreement for the lease of state-owned land for more than three years. Agreements for use are made between District Municipalities, who may be represented by the State Land Reclamation Service, and the private landowner or the lessee of state-owned land. (8 articles)

Decree No. 12 of 1990 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Nutrition regarding land plot registers.
Legal and natural persons using at least fifty acres of agricultural land are compelled to keep a plot register where they report every happening relative to plots of fields, gardens, orchards, grasslands and reeds. Registers also include data regarding ownership, geographical area, agrochemical, geological and climatic features of the plot. The control of plot registers is performed by county (capital) plant protection and soil conservation stations.

Ley Nº 19.233 - Modifica el DFL Nº 5 de 1968 que contiene la normativa legal sobre las comunidades agrícolas.
La Ley, que consta de 2 artículos y 3 disposiciones transitorias, introduce 42 modificaciones al DFL Nº 5 de 26 de diciembre de 1967. La presente Ley entiende por comunidad agrícola la agrupación de propietarios de un terreno rural común que lo ocupen, exploten o cultiven, y gozarán de personalidad jurídica desde la inscripción del predio en el Conservador de bienes raíces respectivo (art. 1º).
