Este estudo tem como objetivo discutir a violência contra a mulher entre moradoras de um assentamento rural de reforma agrária, as peculiaridades da violência, bem como as formas de suporte e apoio social. A violência contra a mulher constitui um problema de saúde pública, agravando-se no contexto rural, o qual é organizado segundo uma divisão tradicional de papéis de gênero. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa e como ferramenta se utilizou a entrevista semiestruturada. Participaram da pesquisa 9 mulheres maiores de 18 anos moradoras de um assentamento rural.

A pesquisa visou compreender de que forma a participação das mulheres no Movimento de Mulheres Trabalhadoras Rurais tem contribuído para gerar mudanças em relação ao acesso e controle da terra no Sertão Central de Pernambuco, Brasil.

La Convención sobre la eliminación de todas las formas de discriminación contra la mujer (CETFDCM) define el concepto de igualdad y dice cómo lograrla. For the purposes of this article, we address gender inequality as a dimension ofsocioeconomic inequality expressed in Costa Rica. Through the evaluation of a seriesof socioeconomic variables, we show that even when the country has moved forward interms of recognition of women rights, there is still much to do to achieve greater levels ofequality in the access to productive resources, socio-economic assets and employment.
