To share the Global Data Barometer results, this webinar discussed the main findings and observations with some key stakeholders and the entire data community. This event  also showcase the organizations that have supported this endeavor.

The Global Data Barometer is a collaborative project that aims to measure the state of data in relation to urgent societal issues.  It is a multi-dimensional index that assesses countries around the world on a set of robust comparative metrics focused on data for public good.  It is built from composite indicators that combine primary and secondary data. 

The Barometer reflects the work of more than 100 country-level researchers. These researchers, drawing on local sources, online resources, and in-depth dataset assessments, have provided evidence on the governance, capability, availability, and use of data for public good across a variety of sectors, providing justifications and supporting evidence for their input. This evidence furnishes a macro view of national policy and practice around data for the public good which provides actionable insights.

This first edition of the Barometer covers the state of data policies and practices between May 1st, 2019 and May 1st, 2021.
