عكف منظمة الأغذية والزراعة، منذ انضمام اليمن إليها في عام 1990، على تقديم المساعدات في مجالات تعزيز التنمية المستدامة لقطاع الأغذية والزراعة في الدولة، بما في ذلك إدارة الموارد الطبيعية واستخدامها بالشكل الأمثل. ومع تصاعد الصراع منذ مارس/آذار 2014، قامت المنظمة بالاستجابة للأزمة الإنسانية التي امتد أثرها لأكثر من 14.1 مليون شخص يعانون من انعدام الأمن الغذائي. ويتم تقديم المساعدات الطارئة في المجالات الزراعية وسبل المعيشة لحماية المجتمعات المستضعفة وتعزيز قدراتها.

The present paper is a non-academic and thus, hopefully, unpretentious, attempt at reviewing the literature on the the role of local institutions and their interaction in disaster risk mitigation (DRM). What will be found on the following pages is a non-exhaustive compendium of strengths and limitations of local institutions involved in DRM and some suggestions for tapping the former and tackling the latter.

Cuba es miembro fundador de la FAO y cuenta con representación oficial en el país desde 1978. La asistencia técnica de la FAO en los últimos 50 años se ha centrado en la transferencia tecnológica y capacitación de personal en temas como la producción y protección vegetal, el desarrollo de la pesca, la recuperación forestal o el desarrollo institucional. Más recientemente, la FAO ha apoyado las prioridades de Cuba mediante proyectos de cooperación que combinan la agricultura y el desarrollo rural sostenible con programas específicamente dirigidos a incrementar el acceso a los alimentos.

La República de Costa Rica es Miembro de la FAO desde 1948 y cuenta con Representación oficial en el país desde 1980. La Organización ha intensificado el apoyo técnico y financiero en el país a lo largo de los años, logrando convertir prioridades nacionales en propuestas de desarrollo agrícola y rural.

The Global Soil Partnership (GSP) was formally established by members of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) during its Council in December 2012. The Council recognized soil as an essential natural resource, which is often overlooked and has not received adequate attention in recent years, despite the fact that production of food, fiber, fodder, and fuel critically depends on healthy soils.

Cooperation between Bulgaria and FAO started in 1967 and has continued to grow, with Bulgaria providing sustained support to the achievement of FAO’s Strategic Objectives. In recent years, their partnership has focused on supporting small family farms and giving greater recognition to their role in ensuring the country’s food supply. Their collaboration is now focusing on the key role of academia and research institutes in achieving food security and nutrition.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) of UNFCCC is a prime opportunity to communicate FAO’s work on climate change and to liaise with potential partners, at the numerous side events and parallel events organized around the COP. This booklet seeks to raise awareness on the impacts of climate change on food security and nutrition and advocate for the importance of having the agricultural sectors properly considered in climate change mechanisms, policies and finances.

Ce document n’est pas une étude comparative entre une approche fondée sur les moyens d’existence et une approche non fondée sur les moyens d’existence et en tant que tels, les développements de cas « traditionnels » n’ont pas été pris en considération.
