The present Act provides the Government of the Northwest Territories with authority related to the disposition and use of land, including the disposition of subsurface minerals. Furthermore, it provides the Government of the North West Territories with the authority to lease and sell land, and sets out prohibitions on trespass and the unauthorized use of public lands.

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the assessment of real property for the purpose of the imposition of real property taxes.

For the purpose of the present Act “Framework Agreement” means: i) the Saskatchewan Treaty Land Entitlement Framework Agreement dated 22 September 1992 and entered into by Canada, Saskatchewan and certain Indian bands with respect to the settlement of the outstanding treaty land entitlement claims of the Indian bands; ii) the Nekaneet Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement dated 23 September 1992 and entered into by Canada, Saskatchewan and the Nekaneet Indian Band with respect to the settlement of the outstanding treaty land entitlement claim of the Nekaneet Indian Band; and iii) any

The present Act declares valid the Agreement between Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada and the Gwich’in, as represented by the Gwich’in Tribal Council, signed on 12 April 1992. Section 5 establishes that for the purposes of carrying out its objectives, the Renewable Resources Board established by the afore-mentioned Agreement has the capacity,rights, powers and privileges of a natural person. The Act establishes that the right to administer soil, water and air is vested in the State. The State, therefore, has the authority to: (a) regulate the allotment, use, supply and maintenance of soil, water and air; (b) regulate the legal relations between persons and soil, water and air; (c) regulate the legal relations between persons and legal acts concerning soil, water and air. The exploitation of these resources both by individuals or corporate bodies is to be performed within the objective of the national interest and by guaranteeing the protection of economically-weak groups.

This Decree consisting of 31 articles divided in V Sections aims at regulating land ownership in Oman and guarantying lands rights to the Omani population. It states that all land in the country is the property of the State, unless specified otherwise. The Law permits Omani nationals to enjoy the benefits of owning land on freehold and leasehold bases.

The purpose of the present Act is to afford protection to farmers against loss of their farm land. For the purpose of the present Act “farming” includes livestock production, poultry breeding, dairying, tillage of the soil, bee-keeping, fur farming or any other activity undertaken to produce primary agricultural produce and animals. Section 5 establishes that the Farm Land Security Board and the Saskatchewan Farm Ownership Board are continued as The Farm Land Security Board consisting of those persons appointed as members by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

The present Act lays down rules relating to expropriation in the province of Alberta. It applies to any expropriation authorized by the law of Alberta and prevails over any contrary provisions that may be found in the law, except the statutes enumerated in the Schedule.
