This report presents the results of an analysis of economic rent from roundwood production in Suriname. It starts by describing the concept of economic rent: what it means; how it is calculated; and why it is so important. it then presents the results of the economic rent analysis and presents some recommendations for forest charges in Suriname. Later sections describe some ways to improve the efficiency and profitability of the forestry sector in Suriname and some ways that current constraints may be overcome.

Becoming energy-smart will require a transformation along the food chain that involves: - relying more on low-carbon energy systems and using energy more effi ciently; - strengthening the role of renewable energy within food systems; - providing greater access to modern energy services for development, and at the same time supporting the achievement of national food security and sustainable development goals.
