The joint East Asia Pacific (EAP) and South Asia (SAR) Regional Workshop served as a pioneering event focused on innovations in public land management to support green growth. The workshop, held under the theme “Breaking Barriers: Access to Land and Poverty Reduction and Climate Resilience,” aimed to explore regional and national efforts in leveraging land management for sustainable development. The opening panel discussion featured key insights from policymakers and change agents from Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia, highlighting the diverse challenges and opportunities in their respective contexts. This session set the stage for a broader discussion on the intersection of land access, poverty reduction, and climate resilience. Country presentations provided concrete examples of ongoing initiatives, with Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Pakistan sharing their experiences in implementing innovative land policies aimed at fostering green growth. These presentations underscored the significance of public land management in addressing climate challenges and supporting economic development. Reactions from discussants representing the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu offered additional perspectives on the practicalities and potential obstacles in applying such strategies across different regional contexts. The workshop emphasized the value of knowledge sharing and collaborative dialogue as essential tools for driving policy innovation and facilitating sustainable land management practices across East Asia and South Asia.
