The Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of national Food Security (VGGt) represent a new international legal instrument, which was adopted unanimously in 2012 by the United nations Committee on World Food Security (CFS). the Guidelines are a soft law instrument that does not create new, legally binding obligations for states or responsibilities for private actors, but that applies existing governance standards, particularly for human rights, to the management of land.

In Sierra Leone, the well-being and livelihoods of many people, particularly the rural poor, are based on secure and equitable access to land, fisheries and forests. Increasing pressure on these resources in recent years has led to an escalation of conflict over access to natural resources.

The Annual Country Reviews reflect upon current land issues in the Mekong Region, and has been produced for researchers, practitioners and policy advocates operating in the field. Specialists have been selected from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam to briefly answer the following two questions:

1. What are the most pressing issues involving land governance in your country?

2. What are the most important issues for the researcher on land?

Zambia is one of the countries in Africa with a high frequency of land conflicts. The conflicts over land lead to tenure insecurity. In response to the increasing number of land conflicts, the Zambian Government has undertaken measures to address land conflicts, but the measures are mainly curative in nature. But a conflict sensitive land governance framework should address both curative and preventive measures.

Entre os dias 14 e 16 de setembro de 2016, foi realizado o IVº Encontro Internacional pela Terra e Território, no Casarão do Vale do Guapiaçu, Serra Queimada, município de Cachoeiras de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro – Brasil, promovido pelo Laboratório de Estudos sobre Movimentos Sociais e Territorialidades da Universidade Federal Fluminense e o Instituto para o Desenvolvimento Rural da América do Sul.

Hoje, uma porção do Vale do Guapiaçu, é ocupada por uma série de comunidades assentadas pelo Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária (INCRA) ou via crédito fundiário pela Reforma Agrária de Mercado . Ao longo do tempo, foram diversos os grupos sociais que ocuparam a região e os processos de disputa por terra/ território pelos quais eles passaram, fazendo com que hoje, parte da formação

For historical reasons, Kenya inherited a highly skewed system of land ownership at independence in 1963. British colonialism in Kenya was not merely administrative. Rather, it was accompanied by massive and widespread land alienation for the benefit of settler agriculture. As a result the best agricultural land-the White Highlands and the adjacent rangelands were taken from the Africans, without compensation, and parceled out to white settlers. Colonial legislation was enacted to legalize this process.
