How can civil society actors ensure inclusivity in their land governance work with communities?

Both ENDS and the Land Portal Foundation held the first webinar in the Whose Land? -  Inclusive Pathways to Land Governance series, which aims to provide a platform for stakeholders engaged in land governance to exchange on the importance of inclusivity and meaningful participation of all relevant actors in both formal and informal land governance processes.

The main objective of this webinar series is to facilitate sharing and exchange around the topic of inclusion in land governance initiatives and what this means in practice. The webinars will explore how inclusivity can be better embedded in the programming and policies of those aiming to advance people-centered land governance. 

This first webinar in the series focused on the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in ensuring that land governance processes at the community level are implemented in an inclusive, just and participatory way. Local CSOs possess a wealth of knowledge and experience on the effectiveness of specific practices, as well as the strategies, tools and considerations that contribute to successful land justice efforts. At the same time, they are faced with diverse local conditions in which a variety of different apparent and more hidden power imbalances prevail. 

Speakers

	Romy Sato, Network of Researchers Coordinator, Land Portal Foundation (Moderator) Romy Sato coordinates the Land Portal Foundation's knowledge management work, which aims to improve knowledge about complex land issues across languages, geographies and themes.
	Nzira de Deus, Executive Director, Forum Mulher Nzira de Deus is a women's rights and LGBT activist from Mozambique and the Executive Director of Forum Mulher. She has been closely involved in the World March of Women and has participated in several national and international events that discuss women's equality in Mozambique and Africa.
	Bridget Chinyemba Phiri, Programs, Monitoring and Evaluations Manager at Zambia Land Alliance Bridget Chinyemba Phiri is responsible for overseeing the development, execution and monitoring of project and program deliverables at the Zambia Land Alliance.
	Don Marquez, Executive Director, Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC)  Don Marquez has leads ANGOC, which is a regional network of NGOs working on rural development in 9 Asian countries and with an effective membership of around 3,000 NGOs in the region.
	Devi Anggraini is President of PEREMPUAN AMAN, which is the Association of Indigenous Women of The Archipelago and is a wing of Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN). Devi Anggraini is from the Taluk community, an Indigenous ethnicity in Sumatra Island.
