Who is involved?
The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N) focuses on environmental concerns and sustainable development options within the Horn of Africa. The Centre is an autonomous institution under Addis Ababa University. It facilitates, strengthens and advocates for initiatives related to land use planning, integrated water resources management, ecosystem management, climate change and energy and value chains for sustainable products and services.
Sida is a government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world. Through our work and in cooperation with others, we contribute to implementing Sweden’s Policy for Global Development (PGU).
The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development is a network of 38 bilateral and multilateral donors, international financing institutions, intergovernmental organisations and development agencies.
Members share a common vision that agriculture and rural development is central to poverty reduction, and a conviction that sustainable and efficient development requires a coordinated global approach.
Project objective is to develop an integrated land use and development plan for the Gambella region. The plan to be developed in close consultation with a range of stakeholders such as Government, civil society, private sector and academia. Capacity building is a strong element in the project, as is forging a common view on land use in Gambella. Given the sensitivities and complexities in the region, the project will apply a conflict sensitive approach.
