Invitation to the 3rd UK Land Policy Forum on ‘Land and Women’s empowerment’ – October 13th 2016,
ODI Conference room, 203 Blackfriars road, SE1 8NJ, London
DFID places high priority on both responsible land investment and secure land rights for women and views this as a central component of women’s economic empowerment. The discussion at the 3rd UK Land Policy Forum aims to identify the key lessons that have emerged from recent work and analysis, and the tools and approaches needed to strengthen women's land rights and opportunities particularly in the context of agribusiness investment.
The forum will highlight findings from two reports:
- The Report of the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment, which was launched at the UNGA event on the 22nd September 2016.
- An Evidence Update commissioned by LEGEND on ‘Gender, land and agricultural development in Africa’, scheduled for release in the first week of October 2016.
Attached is the concept note and agenda for the meeting. To register to attend the event, please email legend@odi.org.uk.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
