VISION
GFAR makes agri-food research and innovation systems more effective, responsive and equitable, towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals
MISSION
Partners in GFAR, at national, regional and international levels, advocate for, and catalyse Collective Actions that strengthen and transform agri-food research and innovation systems
Founded in 1979, ANGOC is a regional association of 20 national and regional networks of non-government organizations (NGO) in Asia actively engaged in food security, agrarian reform, sustainable agriculture, participatory governance and rural development.
The vision of the Land Portal Foundation is to improve land governance to benefit those with the most insecure land rights and the greatest vulnerability to landlessness through information and knowledge sharing.
YPARD is an international movement by Young Professionals for Young Professionals for Agricultural Development. This global online and offline communication and discussion platform is meant to enable and empower young agricultural leaders around the world to shape sustainable food systems.
JUNE 6TH 14:00 - 15:00 SAST
SYNOPSIS
The aim of this event is increasing public understanding of the links between climate change, disasters, and land tenure rights, and bringing land tenure issues in the climate change discourse, listening particularly to the voices of civil society and youth. The discussion is also expected to bring forth some ideas for action both for the new GFAR Collective Action on land tenure and climate change, and for policy makers.
The event will feature a panel discussion on how the lack of land rights as well as land tenure insecurity affect resilience to climate disasters, how public awareness of this nexus and subsequent policies are lacking, and how increased awareness, better documentation and inclusion of the rural poor in decision making can help mainstream land rights in the climate discourse.
