An estimated 11,000 rice and cassava farmers from 23 Agri-cooperatives
in Battambang and Kampong Speu provinces used the agroclimatic
advisories in their planning and decision-making for better risk
management. DeRISK SE Asia introduced the Local Technical
Agroclimatic Committee (LTAC) approach in Cambodia to co-develop
seasonal agroclimatic advisories based on seasonal forecasts with

This report presents the outcome of the lessons learned workshop organized by WorldFish in partnership with the AICCRA CSA-Bundle two Accelerator partners working on integrated aquaculture-agriculture systems in Luapula and the Northern Provinces of Zambia.
The main aim of the workshop was to reflect on the experiences, successes, challenges and outcomes of the project to identify valuable insights and takeaways to inform future work.

Small-scale fisheries (SSF) account for much of the global fish catch, but data to assess them often do not exist, impeding assessments of their historical dynamics and status. Here, we propose an approach to assess 'data-less' SSF using local knowledge to produce data, life history theory to describe their historical multispecies dynamics, and length-based reference points to evaluate stock status. We demonstrate use of this approach in three data-less SSFs of the Congo Basin. Fishers' recalls of past fishing events indicated fish catch declined by 65–80% over the last half-century.

WorldFish operates a transdisciplinary research-in-development program in Timor-Leste, hosted by the national government and the Directorate General of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Resources (DG-FAMR). Two new projects started in Viqueque Municipality in 2022, working to support aquatic foods systems with nutrition-sensitive, inclusive and climate adaptation approaches. A workshop provided a platform to engage and consult with national, municipal and local partners, stakeholders and communities, aiming to strengthen partnerships at the municipality level.

The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), The Amhara Regional Agricultural Research Institute (ARARI), the Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research in Africa (AICCRA), and the Amhara Livestock and Fisheries Resource Development Office organized a workshop that took place on May 29, 2023, in Bahir Dar Ethiopia.

Achieving gender and social equality in agri-food systems can result in greater food security and better nutrition for all—and transform food systems to be more just, resilient and sustainable. Equitable food systems are essential to achieving SDG 5, whose gender equality goal is intrinsically valuable and whose achievement supports progress across all other SDGs. Current thinking has evolved from focusing on gender gaps to enabling gender-transformative change in agri-food systems, fostering gender and social equality and women’s empowerment.

Bangladesh has made significant progress in social and economic development in recent years, but micronutrient deficiencies and poor dietary diversity remain a significant challenge. This paper developed five scenarios to explore futures of fish supply-demand in Bangladesh using the AsiaFish model, with special emphasis on the role of fish in macronutrient and micronutrient supply to address the nation's malnutrition and nutrition security challenges. A business-as-usual (BAU) scenario followed historical trends for exogenous variables used in the model.

Scientific evidence is crucial for the transition towards sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. However, sustainability transitions research has been so far north-biased and overlooked the Global South. This paper analyses the scholarly literature on sustainability transitions in West African agriculture and food systems. In particular, it investigates the bibliometrics and geographical coverage of the research field and explores whether and how it addresses topics such as transition frameworks, niches, food security and sustainability.

This learning guide provides civil society organizations (CSOs) with a methodology and a set of materials to undertake training on the VGGT and SSF Guidelines with civil society actors from the grassroots to the national level. Trainees will learn how to apply the VGGT to actual tenure governance challenges. They will also learn to use the SSF Guidelines, which reinforce the principles of the VGGT specifically in the context of small-scale fisheries.
