A fin de recoger nuevas ideas relativas al tema del respaldo institucional a la aplicacin de la poltica forestal, se celebr una Consulta de Expertos sobre Administracin Forestal para el Desarrollo patrocinada por la FAO y la Oficina Central Sueca para la Ayuda Internacional (SIDA) en la sede de la FAO, en Roma, del 2 al 11 de febrero de 1983. Asistieron a titulo personal veintinueve expertos de una amplia gama de disciplinas provenientes de 24 pases de Africa, Asia, Europa, Amrica Latina y Amrica del Norte. Este nmero de Unasylva presenta una seleccin de los documentos debatidos.

A complete 46-page report that covers the overall situation of Niger's forest resources. It is organised in two main parts that cover (1) the objectives of the study and the methodologies used as well as (2) the results obtained. There are some insights of forest plantation classifications, agroforest parks, forest plantations, forest resources, productivity factors and population needs. A brief conclusion is given.

A concise summary of the state of knowledge and experience concerning sustainable forest management, prepared as an input to the World Bank's Forest Policy Implementation Review and Strategy. An overview of experiences gained from different forest management systems is given, followed by a discussion of the outlook for forest resources and for forest product markets. Market, policy and institutional failure is analysed and appropriate responses are outlined. Finally, approaches to international co-operation are discussed.
