This document is an integral part of a more extensive report that conducts a systematic review of various cases addressing participatory co-innovation models and approaches in the agri-food systems of Latin America and the Caribbean. The CGIAR's AgriLAC Resiliente initiative, especially its scaling component, aims to thoroughly analyze the co-innovation and scaling processes of these cases to identify and examine lessons learned, key enabling factors, and leverage points that trigger the scaling of agricultural innovations in specific contexts.

Honduras food system profile: Better understanding food systems at country level

Country profiles are more than a simple compilation of national indicators. They are constructed and designed around a common framework and methodology to identify hotspots of unsustainability in the food systems and prioritize interventions at multiple scales to address these through targeted actions and investments.
An important feature of the country profiles is that they are co-produced with key public and private food system stakeholders engaged in both identifying the data and validating results and emerging key messages.

Energy, food production, and ecosystems are driven by water, which is central to our nexus approach. To ensure the sustainability of the program, we have invested considerable time in building teams and partnerships in our target basins. We have also made substantial progress in building water–energy–food–environment (WEFE) knowledge and capacities, and women’s leadership capacities.

The global food system is responsible for 23 – 42% of total net anthropogenic emissions. The food systems of all countries need to be transformed to lower their emissions while producing sufficient, nutritious and healthy food. The Low-Emissions Food Systems (Mitigate+) Initiative aims to offer a comprehensive, evidence-based and holistic approach to reducing agrifood systems emissions. It explores possible pathways that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing food security and nutrition and livelihoods and preserving the environment.
