Curriculum Vitae
Since April 2015 Larissa Stiem works as a research associate in the accompanying research project “Soil Rehabilitation and Protection for Food Security” conducting field research in Burkina Faso and Benin.
Before joining IASS, Ms. Stiem has worked in projects, led by research institutes such as the Center for International Forestry Research, on soil protection and rehabilitation through agroforestry, sustainable forest management with community participation, and climate vulnerability of rural communities in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her most recent research focuses on women’s participation in forest governance and land use with regards to the climate change mitigation mechanism REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) in Equateur Province, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ms. Stiem holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science (M.Sc.) from Lund University, Sweden and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Management Studies from the Hanze University in Groningen, the Netherlands.
