Sustainable city – a city without crime

The focus of this research is to check if urban crime is related to the social spatial urban structure and to identify the most unsafe territories in the city of Klaipeda from the point of view of crime and urban structure. Space syntax theory and method, as well as correlation analysis have been used for this purpose. The research results have revealed that all types of crimes depend on global integration and global depth: the more integrated and shallow the open public spaces are the more crime incidents in these spaces happen.

The aim of this study was to compare the agricultural land market in Poland and in the selected countries of the European Union. The present paper compares the price changes of agricultural land in Poland and the EU. This research contains the information on institutions involved in agricultural land management in the selected EU countries. The paper presents the current state of the Polish market and its prospects for the land. Therefore, the development of the agricultural real estate market in Poland covers the years from 2004 to 2012.

The development of forest property rights from early 20th century to modern times

Forest is an important natural resource to the Latvian economy. It is useful to examine the historical context to estimate objectively the events that created the structure of forest property rights today. While 50.3% of all Latvian forests are state-owned and the remaining 49.7% are under different ownership, historically this structure has changed with the political situation and the authorities.

Evaluation of indicators of cadastral assessment

To justify the importance of the indicators affecting the cadastral value, surveys were carried out, by help of which opinions of different respondent groups were summarized. The interviewed respondent groups were real property specialists of municipalities and experts. The thematic blocks of the questions included in the questionnaires are designed with the aim to clarify the quality of the indicators of cadastral assessment models, as well as their significance.

Population growth in cities along with migration from rural areas dramatically increases the Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes. This study was conducted in Çanakkale province consisting of central part and its vicinities where rapid population growth and development have been taken place. This study aimed to determine LULC changes using remotely sensed data and geographical information system (GIS) techniques between 1987 and 2010.

Land as main production factor on dairy farms in Poland

This paper presents the issues of land resources on dairy farms of various scale of production. Using a dynamic scope, it analyses the shaping of parameters such as the area of own and rented land, share of rented land in the whole area of land, share of arable land, and the technical development of land factor in accordance with the number of dairy cows. Distinct dependencies between the shaping of parameters and the scale of production have been observed in the research. Data from the Polish FADN for the years 2004-2009 were used in the paper.

Taking into account the risk factors while calculating monetary value of farm lands

Estimated monetary value of agricultural lands supposes determination of the profit part attributable to land itself (ground rent), but the only characteristic is insufficient for complex evaluation of land cost. Volatility of profitability of agricultural lands, depending on seasonal fluctuations, along with economical risks, requires to be considered for calculation of the capitalization coefficient. The paper deals with the main approaches to determination of the capitalization coefficient while calculating monetary value of farm lands.

The Landsat TM/ETM images obtained in 2000, 2006 and 2010 were used to generate Land Use and Land Cover (LULC)maps of Canakkale province including forest,grassland,agriculture,water and residential area bare soil classes.

It shows that the world has made some progress in reducing hunger since 1990, but still has far to go. The 2013 GHI report focuses on resilience in theory and in practice. The relief and development communities have long struggled to understand why some people fare better than others when confronting stresses or shocks.

Der Bericht zum Welthunger-Index 2013 – der achte in einer jährlich erscheinenden Serie – stellt die Entwicklung des weltweiten, regionalen und nationalen Hungers mittels eines mehrdimensionalen Indexwertes dar. Er zeigt, dass die Weltgemeinschaft bei der Bekämpfung des Hungers seit 1990 gewisse Fortschritte gemacht hat, dass aber noch viel zu tun ist.

Yet, within the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, these gender dynamics are frequently disregarded. In Vietnam, rice is intimately linked to the country’s food security. Over the last decade, rice export levels, production methods, and local and global market prices have remained constant preoccupations for governmental and development agencies.
