Reports & Research
December, 2010
Nepal
Southern Asia

The impact of climate change (CC) on water resources is likely to affect agricultural systems and food security. This is especially true for Nepal, a least developed country, where a high percentage of the population is dependent on agriculture for its livelihoods. It is thus crucial for Nepal?s leaders and resource managers to draft and begin implementing national adaptation plans.

The CPWF was designed to be different. Developed in response to a call for change in a previous round of Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) system

reform, the CPWF was intended to foster cross-CGIAR cooperation and find ways to bring in new partners. Over time the CPWF has successfully broadened the CGIAR’s sources of

innovative research on water and food. Through its broad partnerships, the program conducts research that leads to positive impact on the poor and to policy change. The CPWF does this by

Evaluating baseline indicators pertaining to Oxfam America's Water Program in Ethiopia: a revised report prepared for Oxfam America

The goal of Oxfam America's Water Program in Ethiopia is to improve smallholders? food security and strengthen their livelihoods in moisture-stressed areas of Oromiya, Tigray and Amhara National Regional States. To realize this goal, smallholder households must exercise their rights to access and manage water resources sustainably and equitably, for irrigating crops and raising livestock. Sri Lanka
South-Eastern Asia

There is ample evidence to suggest that Sri Lanka?s climate has already changed. However, the bigger question of national importance is what Sri Lanka?s climate will look like in 50 or 100 years and how prepared the country is to face such changes. This report reviews the status of climate change (CC) research/activities in Sri Lanka in terms of observed and projected climatic changes, their impacts on water resources and agriculture, CC mitigation and adaptation, and research needs.

IN response to an on-line survey, 76 project leaders and staff gave CPWF Phase 1 a

generally favorable review. Respondents came from 68 CPWF projects in 45 countries on

three continents. The survey sought to help learn what went well in Phase 1, what did not

go so well and can be improved in Phase 2.

Nearly three-quarters of respondents felt that they had achieved different research results,

outcomes and impacts as a result of participation in the CPWF than otherwise possible from
