One of the most suitable places for black alder is flood-lands, where a rise of a water level causes stand flooding few times a year. Often alder stands don’t exist in long-term, because their natural self-renewal is embarrassed. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the current stand structure and its further development. Described parameters were structure of both stand and vegetation and various abiotic factors (soil properties, hydrology).

Forest Restoration Following Earthquake Damage

Natural regeneration is sometimes
sufficient for forests and other plant communities to
recover after a disturbance. In the case of severe
disturbances, however, this is unlikely to be true. Natural
regeneration may occur in such cases but the rate is likely
to be very slow. Hence, some form of intervention is needed.

might be needed in the initial stages of restoring forests

thematic chapters. Chapter one looks at the contribution of
the environment and tourism sector to the Namibian economy
