El uso de la tierra en la subcuenca mediaalta del río Pirrís, está diferenciado por la altitud sobre el nivel del mar. Entre los 1075 y 1700 m de elevación, la principal actividad agrícola es el cultivo del café, desarrollado sobre suelos arcillosos del orden de los Ultisoles con importantes manifestaciones de erosión.

Article 4 of the above-mentioned Ordinance establishes that the agricultural land in Baden-Württemberg is classified according to the degree of erosion hazard with a view to erosion caused by water or by wind. Article 7 lays down provisions relating to measures aimed at the avoidance of erosion. The text consists of 9 articles and 5 Annexes.

This Regional Law establishes that after the conclusion of local government on utility of classification of land parcels as urban land, declassification of urban land parcels and establishment or modification of authorized land tenure the Regional Government shall make decisions on classification or declassification of urban land.

Farmland and capital are an important and rapidly expanding component of the agriculturaleconomy, and empirical evidence suggests that these assets are quasi-fixed in that adjustment costs are incurred when holdings are altered. Increased interest in the rate of return for investing in farmland suggests that an important consideration is the effect of adjustment costs on this return.
