The interactive relationship between transportation and land use has become more difficult to understand and predict, due to the economic boom and corresponding fast-paced proliferation of private transportation and land-development activities. A lack of coordination between transportation and land-use planning has created an imbalanced provision of transportation infrastructure and land-use patterns; this is indicated by places where a high-density land-development pattern is supported by a low-capacity transport system or vice versa.

Land use/land cover change (LULCC) studies are gaining prominence among environmentalist and land use planners. This is due to the effects of LULCCs on natural ecosystems and livelihoods. In the coastal landscape of south-western Ghana, there exist knowledge gaps in the variations in size and intensities in LULCCs and the degree of change among land cover types in LULCC studies. Such studies are important for identifying periods of rapid land cover transitions and their implications on the landscape.

The use of a free-trade zone (FTZ) has emerged as a smart land tool in increasing trading, attracting foreign investment, attempting financial openness and conducting other pilot economic reforms, which adds higher requirements for smart spatial planning, smart industry planning and smart management planning. However, no systematic analysis has been performed, making it difficult to provide deeper insights into FTZs.

Variation of Net Carbon Emissions from Land Use Change in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region during 1990–2020

Global increasing carbon emissions have triggered a series of environmental problems and greatly affected the production and living of human beings. This study estimated carbon emissions from land use change in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region during 1990–2020 with the carbon emission model and explored major influencing factors of carbon emissions with the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) model. The results suggested that the cropland decreased most significantly, while the built-up area increased significantly due to accelerated urbanization.

This paper uses a slack-based model (SBM) based on provincial-level panel data from China from 2004 to 2017 to measure CLUE.

As an ecological consequence of intensified anthropogenic activities, more frequent extreme rainfalls have resulted in significant increases in water levels and discharge in southwestern China. This phenomenon presents a significant challenge in flood risk and ecological management. Land use is one of the major factors significantly affecting the flooding process, and it is inextricably tied to the ecological risk of floods. Hence, flood risk estimates based on land use are essential for flood control and land use planning.

In this study, we measure the extent of environmentally sensitive area loss in the rural–urban fringe of Wuhan City, where massive urban development has taken place, using 34 years of land use data.

Land use has been demonstrated to have an important influence on PM2.5 concentrations; however, how the scale effects and regional disparities in land use influence PM2.5 concentrations remains unclear. This study investigated the scale differences in spatial variations in PM2.5 concentrations, in spatial associations between PM2.5 concentrations and land use, and explored the effects of the spatial heterogeneity and action scale of land use on PM2.5 concentrations. The main findings indicated greater intra-unit variation at small scales and greater inter-unit variation at large scales.
