Assessing forest changes is the baseline requirement for successful forest management. Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) are three essential components for achieving such assessments. Community participation in resource monitoring and management is increasingly seen as a scientifically efficient, cost-effective, and equitable way to employ such practices, particularly in the context of REDD+. We developed a multidisciplinary approach to study the feasibility of Participatory MRV (PMRV) across three sites along a forest degradation gradient in Indonesia.

This manual has been developed to help build the capacities of farmers, farmers groups, extension staff and project managers who are implementing agricultural carbon projects in Eastern Africa. The manual describes the steps for implementing an afforestation/reforestation voluntary carbon project based on the Plan Vivo Standard.

Sobre la base de la problemática del fenómeno de cambio climático y potencial de los bosques para contribuir a la mitigación del mismo, el objetivo de este estudio es analizar si el mecanismo REDD+, puede constituir una alternativa viable en el Ecuador para la reducción de la tasa de deforestación, la mitigación del cambio climático y el desarrollo local. Para el efecto, se analizará el contexto internacional del mecanismo REDD+ y el proceso que Ecuador lleva adelante para implementar dicho mecanismo.

Reconocer los factores relevantes que impulsan los patrones de diversidad de especies en diferentes escalas de análisis ha sido un tema importante en la investigación ecológica. Exploré factores patrones de diversidad de aves tanto en un paisaje y una escala macro en Ecuador. En el capítulo 2 exploré como la composición y configuración de los paisajes en el noroeste de Ecuador afectan a los patrones de diversidad de aves. La estructura del paisaje explicó más de la variación en la abundancia que en la riqueza.

Depuis que l’État des Comores est devenu membre de l’Organisation, en 1977, diverses interventions ont été mises en oeuvre dans le secteur de l’alimentation et de l’agriculture. L’assistance a concerné le renforcement des capacités et des institutions et la formulation des politiques, et un appui direct a été fourni pour des projets de développement.

Since Comoros joined the Organization in 1977, a variety of interventions have been delivered across the food and agriculture sector. Assistance has included capacity building, institutional strengthening and policy formulation as well as direct support to development projects. Current cooperation efforts are geared towards increasing agricultural production, particularly food products, and protecting natural resources – with an emphasis on agroforestry development. Strengthening agricultural data collection and information systems is another priority area.

Nowadays it is necessary to process geographic data about landscape in a digital way. It is possible to analyse selected data and approach to decision and proposition-making process of landscaping based on analysis of these results. The LANDEP methodics provides us verified procedures of primary landscape structures assesment and landscaping. Digitalization of selected landscape elements increases processing efficiency, mainly for time reasons. Creation of complex landscape plans of cadastral areas at Slovakia should become a basic priority of every commune.

By increased rural-urban migration in many African countries, the assessment of changes in catchment hydrologic responses due to urbanization is critical for water resource planning and management. This paper assesses hydrological impacts of urbanization on two medium-sized Zimbabwean catchments (Mukuvisi and Marimba) for which changes in land cover by urbanization were determined through Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images for the years 1986, 1994 and 2008. Impact assessments were done through hydrological modeling by a topographically driven rainfall-runoff model (TOPMODEL).

'Somayama Houshikichou Shitsugi [Additional Forest Methods]' was promulgated in 1747 as a supplementary volume to 'Somayama Houshikichou [Forest Methods]' which had been published a decade earlier in 1737. The contents once again affirm principles outlined in the earlier 'Somayama Houshikichou' but also include additional statutes on new matters.

The conference is aimed at dissemination of scientific research results, sharing of experience, improvement of foreign language and cross-cultural communication skills, and establishing of international contacts.
