Agriculture is important for Ghana’s economy and the livelihoods of the majority of the rural population even though its level of contribution to GDP is declining. Its importance is not only in terms of the contribution to food and nutrition security, but also in providing a basis for agro-industrial activities and for exports.
This study aimed at identifying the factors that determine
the decision to adopt and the intensity of adoption of
soil organic carbon (SOC)-enhancing practices using two
watershed sites in Ethiopia: Yiser (Amhara region) and
Azugashube (Southern region). The study used survey
data collected from 379 sample households drawn from

The productivity of small ruminants in developing countries remains low although the animals play an integral role in the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Current information on their productive performance and contribution to the household incomes of smallholder farmers in Eastern Africa is limited.
Uganda submitted its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in 2015 to the UNFCCC through which it committed to reduce approximately 22% of national GHG emissions in 2030 compared to business-as-usual of 49 million MtCO2eq. The country is currently in the process of updating its NDC in accordance with decision 1/CP.21 of the UNFCCC.
