The objective of the ‘Water Management Adaptation’ Project is to build capacity for good governance and adaptation to climate change through applied research, awareness, public participation and demonstrative experiences, for effective water management based on an ecosystems integrated management approach.
The project is developed by the IUCN Regional Office for Mesoamerica and the Environmental Law Centre. Countries participating are Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Mexico and El Salvador, through six watersheds identified as pilot sites: Bajo Yorkin (Sixaola River), Sixaola Medio (Sixaola River), El Aguacate (Rio Paz), Sumpul (Rio Lempa), Buena Vista (Coatan) and Pozuelos (Cahoacan).
