This Act provides for the designation and management of “development areas”. Under section 2, the Commissioner in Executive Council “may designate as a development area “any area in the Yukon where it is considered necessary in the public interest to regulate the orderly development of such area”. Section 3 empowers the Commissioner in Executive Council to make regulation for the orderly development of a development area respecting, among others, the zoning of the area and the allocation of land; streets, roads lanes and sidewalks; public health, including the treatment and purification of water, the collection and disposal of garbage and sewerage: fire protections and animals. The Act provides for powers of inspection and seizure to ensure the enforcement of the Act (sect. 4).
