Under section 1, the purpose of this Act is to promote appreciation of the Yukon’s historic resources and to provide for the protection and preservation, the orderly development, and the study and interpretation of those resources. It consists of 85 sections and is divided into 7 Parts. Part 1 creates the Yukon Heritage Resources Board, the Yukon Historical Resources Appeal Board and regulates their operation. Part 2 concerns educational programs and financial assistance and establishes the Yukon Historic Resources Fund. Part 3 concerns the designation of historic sites, Part 4 provides for the protection of sites and Part 5 covers the designation of historic sites by municipalities.
