This Act makes provision for the establishment of the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council, for the grant of Aboriginal Land to that Council and for other matters relating to such land and the Council.The Council is established as a body corporate and shall hold title in and manage Aboriginal Land for purpose of the members of the Aboriginal community. The Council shall also protect and conserve natural and cultural sites on Aboriginal Land and engage in land-use planning for such land. The Minister may or shall grant specified land to the Council and such land shall be vested in the Council but the right to any minerals existing in their natural condition on or below the surface of the land remains with the Commonwealth. The Act also provides for the lease of land of a national park to the Council in accordance with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and various dealings with land subject of this Act and activities relating to the land such as mining and the protection of the environment.
