These Regulations make provision with respect to local planning in accordance with a system of local development planning as established by Part 2 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. The Regulations, among other things: prescribe the bodies (including the Environment Agency) which are subject to the duty to cooperate as required by section 33A of the Act; prescribe the form and content of local plans and supplementary planning documents; prescribe which documents are to be local plans; prescribe the process for preparation of the local plans; include provisions as to the withdrawal or revocation of supplementary planning documents and the intervention of the Secretary of State in the planning document preparation process; and make provision in relation to the content of monitoring reports which local planning authorities must prepare.
