The Danish AgriFish Agency may grant subsidies to owners and tenants of farms in order to convert agricultural land to organic farming. The Order’s provisions are designed to meet a market demand for organic production through conversion to organic agricultural production by up to 18 000 ha/year (including 2013). The areas subject to such conversion include grasslands, uncultivated areas, areas (forests) growing decorative trees, however excludes afforested areas, areas covered by subsidy provisions for forestry, areas within commitment on forest protection (except non-vegetated forest reserve areas), areas not in agreement for allocation of funds pursuant wetland restoration provisions. Request for subsidy shall be ensured by electronic application to the Agency’s website and criteria for eligibility consists of granting support to authorized organic agricultural production farms.
