This Regulation of the Council of the Amhara Regional Government establishes zonal administrations in the Regional State of Amhara, which shall carry out their functions on behalf of the regional government. The Regulation sets out duties and powers of these zonal administrations and provides with respect to their organization and administration. The administration shall consist of a) the Council of zonal administration; b) the Chief administrator; and, c) the Office of the administration. The zonal Chief Administrator shall be selected and appointed by the head of the regional government. The Chief Administrator is the main executive body and the chairperson of the council of administration and shall administer the zone on behalf of the regional government. The Council shall consist of heads of the zonal executive bodies, including amongst others, the Head of the Agricultural Department, the Head of the Water Resource Development Department, and the Head of the Environmental Protection, Rural Land Administration & Use Department.
