Namibia: Housing the Urban Poor Crucial

Windhoek — Any formal process of addressing the acute shortage of housing will be a failure because the majority in need of housing are the poor, whose incomes do not allow them to purchase houses through banks, from individuals or property developers. This was the view of Dr. Anna Muller of the Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) at a public lecture at the University of Namibia this week.

Nepal: Bhaktapur DLRO switches to online land registration

BHAKTAPUR: In a bid to keep up with e-governance service recently introduced by the government, the Bhaktapur District Land Revenue Office (DLRO) has switched to online land registration service.


Officiating secretary at the Ministry of Land Reform and Management Nagendra Jha inaugurated the service on Wednesday.


New press release about Jan Satyagraha: It seems that the Indian Government is ready to sign an agreement today in Agra

After eight days on the road, the Jan Satyagraha reached Agra yesterday. On the way into the city, the marchers were joined by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, who promised his government’s support to homestead land and greater access to forest rights. Negotiations with the central government are likely to lead to an agreement on the 11th of October, which is to be presented to the marchers in Agra by the Minister of Rural Development. A formal signing between the Government of India and the Jan Satyagraha will follow. See the attached press release for more details.
