Brenda was born in Belém-PA and joined Imazon as a trainee in 2003. Since then, she has served as Assistant Researcher (2004-2008), Vice-Executive Secretary (2005-2007), Executive Secretary (2009-2012) and Adjunct Researcher (2009-2012). Currently she has been working mostly on land tenure issues in the Brazilian Amazon, aiming at increasing transparency of land tenure information, improving efficiency of land agencies and analyzing the impacts of recent changes in the federal land tenure legislation. She is also involved in analyzing and contributing to mechanisms for reducing deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) in the Amazon. Brenda has more than 40 publications on land tenure, environmental law and REDD+. In her free time, she is also a photographer.
