General

This project worked with 15,000 poor Quechua and Aymara families in Sierra Sur, the southern highlands of Peru, with the aim to help improve the quality of their products, preserve their traditional knowledge and improve natural resource management to diversify their sources of income. On land and natural resource governance, the Project Implementation Unit coordinated with local authorities and institutions to establish and co-financing mechanisms, including complementary projects and programmes aimed at land titling and records. The project provided support for participatory territorial planning and for the preparation of maps, talking maps, cultural maps and models to represent the natural resource base in the project area.
