The National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda

The National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU), registered as A Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) in 1993, is an umbrella organisation of women founded and women led organisations. Its membership category are District networks, which are clusters of women’s Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Faith Based Organisations (FBOs) and NGOs, national NGOs, nationally registered FBOs and women’s professional bodies.

Uganda Landcare Network (ULN) is an association of individuals and institutions committed to the principles, philosophy and practice of Landcare in Uganda. ULN is registered as a trustee to champion Landcare activities nationwide. It is built on the global successes of Landcare including Australia where it was launched close to 30 years ago and has been adopted worldwide by communities and land managers dedicated to sustainable land management.

LANDnet Uganda was founded in 2012 as a Network engaged in Research, Capacity Development and Policy Advocacy on Land, Gender, Agriculture and Natural Resources Management. Because of the role LANDnet is envisaged to play in the political economy of Uganda and the East African region, it is registered as a company Limited by guarantee.

The UCSD is a network or more than 40 NGOs dedicated to coordinate advocacy and lobby work around issues and commitments made by world governments towards sustainable development, inspired by the Rio+ 10 project (Civil Society project for preparation of the Johannesburg Summit of 2002).

The UCSD was registered in November 2004 as an NGO (Reg. No. S5914/5345). Since its inception in 2001, UCSD has actively participated in Uganda Civil Society preparations for the Johannesburg Summit on sustainable development;

Roles and Functions of Uganda Land Commission

The 1995 Constitution Art.239 lays out the functions of ULC as to hold and manage any land in Uganda vested in or acquired by Government of Uganda in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and such other functions as may be prescribed by Parliament.

The Land Act, Cap 227 (sec 49) lays out the functions of ULC as follows;

CSOPNU believes that the needs and rights of people affected by the conflict must be central to the debate about northern Uganda.
