Focus on the Global South

Focus on the Global South was established in 1995 to challenge neoliberalism, militarism and corporate-driven globalisation while strengthening just and equitable alternatives.  We work in solidarity with the Global South - the great majority of humanity that is marginalized and dispossessed by globalisation – believing that progressive social change and Global South solidarity are imperative if the needs and aspirations of oppressed peoples, particularly in Asia, Latin America and Africa, are to be met.


The Cambodia Daily

The Cambodia Daily is an independent newspaper published six days a week in Phnom Penh. It was established to provide a foundation for a free press in Cambodia and to train a new generation of journalists.

Its founder and publisher is a veteran American journalist who covered Cambodia in the 1960s for Newsweek and saw an opportunity to help the fledgling democracy by launching a newspaper here after the U.N.-supervised elections of 1993.

ADHOC

The Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) was founded by a group of former political prisoners in December 1991 after the signing of the Paris Peace Agreements on October 23, 1991. ADHOC is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit and non-governmental organization. It has different levels of governance: a General Assembly which is convened every three years to elect a President and Secretary General, and a Board of Advisors which meet annually.

COPORWA

COPORWA (Communauté des Potiers du Rwanda = Rwandese Community of Potters) is a non-profit-making and non-political organization that works for the promotion and defence of the potters’ rights in Rwanda. COPORWA carries out its activities all over Rwanda, which is a country of East Africa. Its total area is 26.388 km2 and it is inhabited by about 11.000.000 people. The demographic growth of the country is approximately 2,8% every year. The potters make, with roughly 25.000-30.000 habitants, less than 1% of the whole population.
