Dar es Salaam — Human Rights Watch has urged the government to 'immediately' amend provisions of the inheritance law, saying it violates the rights of women.


Under the existing laws, women are often left with nothing when their husbands die and coerced to leave their land, which is against international agreements on women's rights.


India: Model law to help states reform land acquisition planned by NITI Aayog

To facilitate the process of land reforms across India, the NITI Aayog has formulated a model land leasing law that allows transfer of leased land directly from the tenant, said Arvind Panagariya, vice-chairman of India’s policy thinktank that has replaced the planning commission.
