Dans un contexte de pression accrue sur les terres et les ressources naturelles, la formalisation (reconnaissance légale et écrite) des droits fonciers est aujourd’hui présentée comme un moyen à privilégier pour une meilleure sécurisation foncière.

Ce document constitue les actes du Colloque de restitution du programme de recherche APPI « Une action publique éclatée ? » organisé en décembre 2014. L’objectif du projet, mené dans le cadre de l’ANR les Suds II, est de comprendre comment, dans des pays africains dépendants de l’aide, se construit et se met en oeuvre l’action publique. Il a mobilisé les concepts et méthodes issus de plusieurs courants d’analyse tels que les sciences politiques, la socio-anthropologie du développement et l’économie institutionnelle, avec un souci d’empirisme.

L’élevage pastoral et agropastoral (ou pastoralisme) est un système de production basé sur un élevage extensif valorisant majoritairement les parcours naturels. Utilisé par des communautés qui vivent dans des contextes souvent marginaux, il est associé à un mode de vie fondé sur un lien particulier entre l’homme, l’animal et la nature.

En 1962, René Dumont publiait L’ Afrique noire est mal partie. Ce livre, qui concernait essentiellement l’Afrique de l’Ouest, fit scandale à l’époque car il intervenait au lendemain des indépendances des colonies européennes, à un moment où les jeunes États africains pouvaient espérer un développement prometteur.

Since the advent of the second digital revolution, the exponential advancement of technology is shaping a world with new social, economic, political, technological, and legal circumstances. The consequential disruptions force governments and societies to seek ways for their cities to become more humane, ethical, inclusive, intelligent, and sustainable. In recent years, the concept of City-as-a-Platform was coined with the hope of providing an innovative approach for addressing the aforementioned disruptions.

Sustainable development is socioeconomic growth that integrates political, economic, and social measures alongside environmental protection to meet the needs of communities and citizens without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The sustainable development concept was initially based on three main pillars: environment, economy, and society. In successive years, this concept has been expanded to include new pillars. The awareness of these changes has influenced our research interests.

Protection of the grassland’s ecological environment and improvement of people’s livelihoods are major tasks for the management of pastoral areas in Inner Mongolia. The comprehensive program for grassland conservation in China, the Subsidy and Incentive System for Grassland Conservation (SISGC), was launched in 2011. To comprehend the effects of this major step towards sustainable grassland development, this study focuses on the spatio-temporal development of grasslands in Inner Mongolia since 2011.

This article analyses the contribution to local development by women workers in the fruit- and vegetable-handling sector in Almería (Spain) over the last five years (2015–2019). It is a continuation of research carried out during the period 2000–2014. Using data collected through surveys and focus groups, the aim is to ascertain if the results obtained in this analysis meet the condition of sustainability, i.e., whether the improvement in working women’s quality of life has been maintained over time, and whether these beneficial effects have multiplied.

Low-carbon governance at the county level has been an important issue for sustainable development due to the large contributions to carbon emission. However, the experiences of carbon emission governance at the county level are lacking. This paper discusses 5 carbon emission governance zones for 1753 counties. The zoning is formed according to a differentiated zoning method based on a multi-indicator evaluation to judge if the governance had better focus and had formulated a differentiated carbon emission governance system.

The spatial management system in Poland struggles with serious costs as a consequence of local planning. The problem is the lack of appropriate value capturing mechanisms and cost compensation for municipalities, along with significant burdens. Private property is subject to special protection, but the public good is less valued. The article attempts to assess the situation in Poland, recalling also the experiences of spatial management systems from other European countries. It combines legal, economic, and geographical perspectives.

Rural residential land is the main space of a farmer’s life, rural culture, and social relations. Prior research of rural residential land has focused more on its evolvement in plain and traditional agricultural areas. Yet, there is no clear picture of rural residential land expansion, especially in ecologically fragile areas.

One of the fastest-growing renewable energy sources is solar energy. A strategic step for a well-performing solar project is site identification. The evaluation of site-suitability is a complex task, where multiple qualitative and quantitative criteria, inherent to the territory, are involved. In this study, a GIS-based multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodology for site-suitability evaluation in the development of solar farms (DSF) is presented.
