The purpose of this study is to show the administrative institutions and acts for the unused farmlands in hilly and mountainous areas. The Nagano City Agricultural Commitee surveyed the farmland used in 2013, and produced a survey in collaboration with the members of their committee as well as other farmers. In this survey, it was shown that almost all the unused farmlands were kept as forests and thus, couldn't be cultivated. Before the 1970s, silk was produced in Nagano City, and so almost all the unused farmlands were used for mulberry production which supported the silk industry.

The purpose of this scientific research is to reveal the theoretical foundations of modern land management and determine its tasks. The patterns of land management, its tasks and principles are formulated in the conditions of modern agrarian reform. The system of interconnected forecasting and design of land management development is proposed. The study represents results on remote sensing methods based evaluation of land use and land use changes in former and existing peat extraction areas in Latvia. The aim of the study is to elaborate activity data set for the National GHG inventory for the wetlands remaining wetlands for peat extraction. The study results provide sufficient data for application of the default emission factors for the peat extraction sites and flooded lands.

The article presents the analysis of the Associations of Gardeners of Lithuania as well as the undergoing changes in their territories. The objective of the article is to discuss the current situation in the territories allocated to the amateur gardens and to assess the current issues concerning the land use and management. The associations of gardeners have encountered a great number of problems concerning the territorial planning, engineering communication services and services maintaining the needs of the associations, the expansion as well as development of these areas.

Great emphasis is currently being placed on achieving transformational change and paradigm shift through policies and measures to implement the Paris Agreement and the UN 2030 development agenda, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF). There is a need to improve our understanding on how to enable, operationalize, measure and evaluate the intended, lasting outcomes.

The countries in North Africa share an arid and semi-arid environment with high diversity: mountainous areas run alongside maritime areas and desert. Currently, urban dwellers in North Africa represent more than 50% of the population and are expected to be more than 60% by 2030. However, the urban system in North Africa is suffering urban primacy. The region is well known for its endowment in mineral deposits such as oil and gas. However, it is also known for being one of the poorest regions in the world in water resources.

The report considers the critical issues providing the context for discussing land issues affecting West Africa as a region. These include the political, social and economic context, colonial legacy and legal plural systems, the operations of regional economic communities and other regional initiatives, impact of demography, migration and urbanization, conflicts and post-conflict issues, as well as shared resources and ecosystems.
