Challenges and lessons learned from organizational actions by local governments for land use coordination in disaster affected rural areas of MiyagiCase of Suginoshita district and Yamamoto eastern district

Journal Articles & Books
March, 2017

This study explored local governments' efforts of land use coordination in the disaster affected rural areas of Miyagi, taking Suginoshita district and Yamamoto eastern district as a study area. Major challenges faced by the two districts are two folds. The first is the fact that multiple reconstruction projects have been implemented in parallel in one district, causing the issue of inter-program coordination.

Climate, population, and land use scenarios for climate change impacts and adaptation polices assessments in Japan (Second Edition)

Japan

The extent of climate change effects ranges widely. In order to make comprehensive assessments of the impacts of climate change and to formulate adaptation policies, interdisciplinary research must be implemented under common future assumptions (hereafter common scenarios). In this paper, a common scenario for Japan is proposed using the latest climate and population projections. We used the climate projection of four climate models and three radiative forcing scenarios of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5).

Study on Population Forecast Model in Planning of Land Use

Journal Articles & Books

China

On the basis of describing characteristics and condition of application of natural growth model of population, weighted average growth model, regression forecast model and GM(1,1)forecast model, taking Gushi County in Henan Province as an example, according to the statistics of population in Gushi County Statistical Yearbook from 1991 to 2007, we establish four models to conduct fitting on population change respectively, and meanwhile, we predict population size from 2008 to 2009 and conduct preciseness test on the population size.

Landuse planning for conservation of forest resources in Phitsanulok province 2560 b.e.

Conference Papers & Reports
December, 2012
Thailand

Objective of study were to simulate size area of land use change in Phitsanulok province from 2552 to 2560 B.E., and decided agriculture area and forest area, and to be use as a guideline map for formulating the land use and forest conservation, In Phitsanulok province. Geographic Information System couples with CLUE-S model by Logistic Regression and Markov chain model were used to predict of future land use in Phitsanulok province.

Electronic advisory system is an interactive learning environment that provides access to the best, most accurate knowledge of the most competent professionals across the country. Eelectronic advisory system connects consumers’ knowledge with those who provide them experts who know their subject inside out. The paper concentrates on experience of creation electronic advisory system at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and its using for the developing of land use planning community electronically.

Construction and application of a family-specific primer for the detection of gramineous raw materials in foods

Journal Articles & Books
November, 2014

We constructed a gramineous plant-specific primer set-matK 792F1GC and matK 979R1, targeting the maturase K (matK) gene, for detection of gramineous raw materials in processed food. For this, we used polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE). The primer set was evaluated using agarose gel electrophoresis and DGGE. Our results confirmed that the primer set was specific for gramineous plants. From our analysis, we confirmed that up to 6 types of gramineous plants can be simultaneously detected using PCR-DGGE.

Land use choice and land resource assessment in agriculture.CAB Reviews

Journal Articles & Books
December, 2009

Land degradation is continuing to occur in many different environmental conditions. This is because land use choice in a particular area always goes beyond the capability and suitability of that area for such type of land use. Traditionally, land use choice depends very much on the criteria used, but in essence it should embrace three different and sometimes conflicting aspects: productivity, workability and the environment. The decision criteria derived from environmental attributes that represent degradation potential will become important determinants for sustained use of the land.
