The Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL) produces new global spatial information, evidence-based analytics describing the human presence on the planet that is based mainly on two quantitative factors: (i) the spatial distribution (density) of built-up structures and (ii) the spatial distribution (density) of resident people. Both of the factors are observed in the long-term temporal domain and per unit area, in order to support the analysis of the trends and indicators for monitoring the implementation of the 2030 Development Agenda and the related thematic agreements.

The suburban agriculture in Setif which is mainly based on the specialized agricultural activities (cereals, animal production) has an important role. Using Bangmaenang District in the urban fringe of Bangkok Metropolitan Region in Thailand as a case study area, this study aims at examining agricultural land-use changes after the 2011 Floods with special focus on farmers' intentions of orchard use and management. Supervised image classifications were conducted for two GeoEye-1 images (before and after the floods) in order to identify agricultural land-cover changes by the floods.

Urban sprawl influences extends on large perimeters in which natural and agricultural spaces have a social value. Private market, in particular land market, does not allow their safeguarding. A public land use regulation must be implemented. It cannot be a zoning: it concerns the whole of ordinary spaces. This document provides an overview on land use and spatial development in the Montpelier region and turning points the planning and governance regime. In the first part we give an overview on the land use and regional development of the case study region. In the second part, we introduce the planning system, its major actors and instruments as well as governance aspects to the reader.

As a quickly growing regional capital located in the Mediterranean littoral vineyard area, the city-region of Montpellier has recently constituted itself as a new local authority gathering 31 municipalities (Communauté d’Agglomération). Working out the territorial coherence scheme (Scot) was a priority step to structure the development project of this new territory, combining urban and rural dimensions.

This assessment report of strategies for the Montpellier case study presents three territorial levels: the Agglomeration, three communes in the context of agriculture dynamics and one commune which is involved in a flood protection plan. This study follows the general framework of the module 3 in the PLUREL project, which proposes to use criteria to assess the strategies and describe the regional level of performance in front of issues or challenges located in the urban fringe.

The aim of the research was to study the effect of the surface runoff of urbanized areas on the chemical composition of the collector-waste waters of the Semikarakorsk branch of the federal state budgetary institution "Rostovmeliovodkhoz". The drainage systems development on irrigated lands not only played a positive role, having created favorable conditions for increasing soil productivity, but also caused the issues with incoming collector-effluent waters, as they are one of the sources of salt and pollution to rivers and inlets.
